Situated in the most desirable 'Perigord Noir' our cottage is right in the heart of the south-west of France which boasts magnificent châteaux, historic sites, the beautiful Dordogne river, delicious cuisine and wine plus breath-taking scenery. You will find yourself on the doorstep of some of the most picturesque and stunningly beautiful locations in all of France.
Eighteen kilometres from Sarlat our pretty stone cottage is in the outer semi-circle of houses clustered beneath the local Château.
The village dates back to the 11th century and because it has been so lovingly restored it has been classified by the French Minister of Culture and the Environment. It is so pretty and unique that the village attracts tourists and locals who like to simply walk through the beautiful rouelles or wander down it's county lanes.
The chateau, which dominates the village, is privately owned and the cottages, once owned by the workers, are clustered beneath it and overlook the fields beyond. There is a pretty church in the village and it's bells ring at 7am, midday and 7pm.

There are so many places within a short drive from Berbiguieres to explore. These include Sarlat: a beautifully restored and picteresque Medieval/Renaissance village.
La Roque Gageac: An extraordinary and famous village etched into the side of the cliff face with troglodite dwellings still visible. Here at La Roque is the place to board barges or canoes for a wonderful trip down the river ot to picnic beside it to enjoy the scenery.
Domme: A fascinating bastide town perched high above Dordogne Valley with fantastic views.
The Castles of Beynac and Castelnaud: the latter a treat for children with the trebouchets and armoury on display.
Marqueyssac Gardens: the hanging gardens of the Dordogne and famous for it's glorious rounded hedges, picnic spots and views.
Meyrals: a vibrant hub of artists and artisans all within the main street precinct. The picturesque towns of Limeuil, Tremolat,
Montpazier, Cadouin Abbey, Le Bugue and Belves.
In fact the Perigord region boasts no fewer than 10 of Frances "Most Beautiful Villages".
Not to be missed is a visit to Les Eyzies-de-Tayac/Montignac, home of Cro-Magnon Man and the famous cave drawings as well as the National Pre-Historic Museum. (Lascaux)
